Another mess from Altman
12 February 2022
I am nearly at the end of my goal to watch every Paul Newman film . I'm down to some of his obscure films and this is one of them .

The worst film that Newman has ever appeared in , is called Quintet from 1979 . An awful mess directed by Robert Altman . This film is also directed by Altman and I don't think it's any coincidence that it's nearly as bad .

The official synopsis for this film is - Buffalo Bill plans to put on his own Wild West sideshow, and Chief Sitting Bull has agreed to appear in it. However, Sitting Bull has his own hidden agenda, involving the President and General Custer.

The reason I copied and pasted this synopsis is I couldn't possibly write one myself because I really didn't have a clue what was happening in this awful film .

This is a total mess . So much so , it gave me a head ache trying to understand what the hell was going on . I think it's meant to be a comedy but not one second of it was funny .

Even the greatest actor of all time can pick a terrible film to appear in . I presume he chose to do this as a favour to Altman because he couldn't have read the script!

Quite possibly the worst western themed film I have ever seen and I love westerns .

Avoid !
