The Strangler (1964)
7/10
good performance in ripped from the headlines

Leo Kroll (Victor Buono) is strangling young female nurses. He's a hospital lab tech living with his overbearing mother. Police detective Lt. Frank Benson (David McLean) leads the investigation.

This was made during The Boston Strangler era in a ripped-from-the-headlines story. Buono is playing the mamma's boy personality to its fullest. He has a good amount of creepy quietness. Ellen Corby does a good mama. There are some fun tension in the hospital visit and the sassy carnival girl. The plot is straight forward. This is mostly about Buono's performance. It's a good performance.
