War Party (1988)
9/10
A pure gem....
22 December 2021
I discovered this film during summer 1990, in Paris, and it disappeared from the theaters after only one week. I was nearly alone to watch it. This movie is like a tribute to the seventies and the counter culture era, the Vietnam war period and everything that was supposed to be shown, melancholy, gloominess, pessimism, the reject of all kind of modern world strongest valors. Yes, I love this movie which is also a tribute to the Indians suffering during the nineteenth century. It is not LITTLE BIG MAN nor SOLDIER BLUE but it is a painful to watch film, where it is impossible not to weep at the end. The screenplay is unusual, daring, bloody, poignant, but also ankward because of the directing. This is probably Frank Roddam's best picture.
