Review of Silence

Silence (I) (2016)
10/10
Masterpiece about faith
22 November 2021
I am writing this review so very late. I watched the movie in a theater when it was out and will stay with me forever.

I had heard feedback from friends and understood that I would be embarking in a journey that made people love it or hate it.

One Catholic friend told be that it was too long and boring. Hearing this, a mutual older firend told me in private that the film is wonderful and that our friend was simply too immature to get it.

I saw the movie on the same week these conversations happened.

I LOVED IT.

Yes, the movie is slow. And this fact is part of the magnicent work of art.

The path of faith, for those whom go into it deep, is slow.

And also like the movie, many times painful.

And beautiful.

To me, this movie celebrated a true walk on faith. And it did it perfectly.

I won't say that my friend whom didn't appreciate it was immature. Maybe he was but that is not the point for me.

I am sure many mature people that have seen it and felt about it like he did.

You either have and are walking the path of faith as deep as you can or you can believe in God but never give it much thought, as a person of faith. And to me that is the difference. Anyone whom walked the deepest path will relate and understand the movie. Those who don't probably won't like it.

I run into a youtube video that made curious to read my review of Silence and that was when I noticed I hadn't written it. Couldn't go past it and had to do it now.

Really sad for the such low rating when talking of a wonderful masterpiece.

Not because it is Christian. Because it captures in perfection a soul jorney so many of us go through.

Everything about it is perfect. From the path, to the picture, the acting, directing... Simply perfect.
