6/10
One of the better Pink Panther films
7 November 2021
"The Return of the Pink Panther" is the film that I am most familiar with from this series as I had seen it several times as a child. I remember liking it well enough, but watching it as an adult it is still pretty good, but not great by any means. It is a bit slow in parts, with Sellers' physical comedy skits being carried out for probably too long a time. Much of the humor here is of that nature or revolving around his thick accent, which is new to this film. I liked that the film opened with showing an actual heist, but sadly the bad guys are very underdeveloped, especially the woman. And her laughing at Sellers confused me, was she playing him all along? But why even let him track you? Obviously these films work best when you don't think too much. And Clouseau being the only one with an accent in Europe doesn't make sense even though it can be funny. I'll give the film a 6/10 but that may be slightly generous.
