Review of 36th Precinct

36th Precinct (2004)
6/10
Only the great actors make this average dirty cop movie worth watching.

The bad: average story, with pretty cliched dialogues, that dont sound natural at all and which we have heard so many times before in other cheaply made B-movies. This story is NOT credible, bordering on ridiculous at many moments.

More bad: there is an annoying soundtrack that drones on constantly, the photography looks cheap.

Not any good? Of course the 2 great actors Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu make this movie worth watching. But even they feel like they are miscast for their roles. Daniel Auteuil playing a macho dirty cop looks pretty ridiculous, since the man has got a charisma of a deskclerk who couldnt harm a fly.

In the end this is just one of many cliched dirty cop movies, BUT it is still enjoyable to watch for the fans of this genre, because of these 2 excellent powerhouse actors, the best in France... But dont raise your expectations...

The story: 2 different police departments are enemies of each other. Lots of corruption and foul play to destroy the other's department power. Some gangster shootouts in between in order not to fall asleep.
