Former reporter Charles Wills (Van Johnson) returns to Paris years after the war. The movie flashes back to him in uniform in Paris as it erupts into celebration for the VE day. He meets Marion Ellswirth (Donna Reed) but it's her sister Helen Ellswirth (Elizabeth Taylor) that everyone falls in love with. Helen had been one of the girls who kissed him in the streets.
