Wynona Ryder is great. Jeff Daniels is great. They can't help the ridiculous plot. A town is waiting for a visit from Daniels' love of his life. That works. Ryder is waiting for her birth mother. That works. The audience is waiting for both things. That works. What does not work is no reveal. No Roxy! The plot must include Roxy. I cannot believe $13,000,000 was spent on this screenplay. Why did they do this! When a screenplay is utterly worthless, people
should stop and either fix it or toss it. Roxy could have returned. She could have brought her husband even six kids. The lead up demands her appearance. The title demands her appearance. Great actors must eat no.
