Lionheart (1968)

Standard kid's adventure

Warning: Spoilers
A rather simplistic Children's Film Foundation story, although not without merit; it's chiefly of note for featuring famously large lion Simba and his trainer Nick Nyoka, who were well known on the scene throughout the 1960s and 1970s, latter holing up at Knaresborough Zoo. The plot is constructed around their presence and features a trio of kids trying to hide the escaped lion from the searching army soldiers, who plan to shoot it. Irene Handl brings huge character but isn't in it much, while the kids give indifferent performances. Not the worst, but it doesn't have the humour, action or quality that most CFF productions have.
