Review of Zulo

Zulo (2005)
5/10
Very rare and boring film about a strange man who is inexplicably kidnapped and put in a zulo
7 May 2021
A plot plain and simple shot in a shoestring budget about a weird man : Jaume García Ávila is kidnapped and put in a hole by two nasty abductors : Isak Ferriz , Enric López . As he holds a deadly interior fight for his survival. As he is under control of the two cutthroats submitted to a chief who eventually appears.

A boring and non-sense plot about a man is abducted and imprisoned in a well for no apparent reason .This disturbing and frightening motion picture with an unknown cast relies heavily on the interpretation , as only one role is the main subject of the flick , while other two kidnappers characters are support actors and mostly hooded. It is an allegoric movie because of thought-provoking conclusion final and we don't know the true causes his kidnap .

It contains adequate cinematography by Jose Luis Bernal, as well as atmospheric musical score by Paul Vallve, adding attractive songs. This claustrophobic and dull film was written/produced/directed in very low budget by G Martin Ferrera and results to be slow and tiring . Ferrera has made a few and without success movies, such as : La Jauria, Año de Plaga, Suspicious Minds. And this Zulo 2oo5 won some Awards and Nominations, such as : Fantasporto 2006 Winner International Film Award to Best Actor Jaume García Ávila. Festival Abycine : Best Film C. Martin Ferrera . Sitges Catalonian Internatoonal Film Festival Prize of the International Jury C. Martin Ferrera . And various nominations as Valladolid International Film Festival nominee Best director , Toulouse Cineespaña Best First film , San Sebastián International Film Festival nominee Best Film , Providence Latin American Festival nominee Oustanding Film Award , among others .
