Cliches and bad choices
28 March 2021
The women in this movie are just props. The point of the movie is supposed to be 3 guys learning to appreciate the women in their lives. It's full of cliches. It's got the obligatory musical number that every romcom is required to have. It's got the "let's generate nostalgia by playing old popular songs". It's got the bog stupid "blame the person someone is cheating with rather than the person that's cheating"

It's also got some messed up 30 something guy lusting after a 13yr old girl.

It's seems like it's partly supposed to be about the men in the story learning to appreciate the women in their lives. The women they lust after are all beautiful (Lauren Holly, Uma Thurman, Natalie Portman). But at least 2 of the men chasing these "beautiful girls" have a beautiful girlfriend (Mira Sorvino, Annabeth Gish). It's only Martha Plimpton who maybe passes for a non physically attractive woman. And even then we're supposed to happy the dorkus who we're told should really want her is supposed to have learned to actually want her.

I don't see how people get a 7.1 out of this.
