After watching the incredible drama "Rescue Dawn" I saw it as imperative to watch the documentary on the same subject: Dieter Dengler. The documentary and movie are both directed by Werner Herzog. "Little Dieter Needs to Fly" is a very detailed blow-by-blow account from Dieter of how he was captured and tortured, and how he escaped after his plane went down over Laos in the Vietnam War. I don't know what amazed me most: his survival, his near perfect memory of the entire ordeal, or his upbeat attitude. I'm thinking about myself; I'd probably be barely intelligible had I gone through all of that. It was incredible all around.
