Not The Rom-Com You Were Anticipating
7 March 2021
The IMDB bio for Thanks for Sharing calls it a "romantic comedy". This is not a romantic comedy, not even remotely. There are a few funny parts from Gad, but that's it, there is no true attempt at humour, and whilst there is romance it isn't even close to being at the forefront of this film. This is a drama about addiction, and an addiction that isn't commonly represented in cinema. It's a pretty good one too.

The acting for the most part is of good quality, there are a good number of interlinking arcs, and characters who you want to do well and progress. It does get pretty dark at times, but at least it's true to the topic it's covering.

So a pretty good drama, a different topic, but not even close to being what it's described to be.
