Brat Girl, Inept Parents
30 December 2020
On the one hand, the story is a microcosm of modern teen life dominated by unsupervised social media. On that level, the film succeeds. Where it fails is with this very unlikable, entitled, brat girl , combined with very weak, enabling parents. At many points in the movie, the girl needed strong parent figures dishing out some reprimands, restrictions, and discipline. No way should a child be allowed to talk to parents as she did. Instead, you get parents blaming themselves, wringing their hands while the girl lashes out at them. If this is parenting today, we have lost our children.
