Was this story worth telling? I don't know? Was it made well? Yes!
The acting was superb, you'd expect nothing less than that from Mr McKellen, but it was also very good by Mr Fraser and Mrs Redgrave.
It could perhaps have done with a bit more of the Hollywood reminiscing and I was disgusted that I bought this film for £2.84 on eBay and didn't even get to see Brendan's bottom, despite the other nudity.
The friendship that the two leads have is a strange one, based on real life apparently, but as I've stated above, I'm not sure it was the whole story to be told. It might have been better to start at the end of James Whale's career and to show his fall in to despair, before he finally meets Clayton.
Not the film I was expecting as I knew nothing about it before I bought it or even about James Whale, but I will definitely be keeping it.
