Not bad, not great either.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed the show, binged it in a day. It's not bad, but also really not great. The show starts off kind of slow and almost had me losing interest but suddenly it sped up really rapidly and it made me want to watch the next episodes. It's pretty fast-paced and I do like the structured way in which they explain Mia's back story step by step. So even though I'm ranting a bit in the next paragraph, I would still watch season 2.

First, I found it kind of weird that Mia, who seems to be an undergrad (just starting out in uni), within the span of days to a week or so gets to work with the insanely tenured and successful Lorenz and gets do do all sorts of high-level lab work for her, she moved into Lorenz's inner circle really quickly. I get that she may be a smart student but come on. This is not at all how universities work. Then there is the cliché of the two over-the-top nerdy roommates and the one hot-but-not-so-smart roommate. And of course it just so happens that they all have exactly the skills and money that she needs to solve her problems later on. They also seem to be immediately on board with her crazy plan while being portrayed on the news as a terrorist. Not so sure everyone would just happily join in with someone like that. Then the stereotype of the brilliant young evil entrepreneur lady with the big house and the nice car. And finally... That love affair with both Jasper and Niklas. Why, just why. It feels added just for the sake of "complicating" the plot a little bit.

The ending feels like a slightly forced plot-twist. I'm not sure how to feel about it, I didn't expect that journalist guy to be evil at all, but oh well. Let's see if there is some actual depth to that twist in season 2.

PS I see some other reviews comparing this show to Dark. There are in my opinion zero parallels to be drawn here, and Dark is definitely on another level.
