McLeod's Daughters (2001–2009)

How to ruin a wonderful series.

Warning: Spoilers
The first 2 1/2 seasons of McLeod's' Daughters were wonderful. I live in the US and over the quarantine of the Covid19 virus my husband and I became hooked on Australian tv. We loved 800 Words, The Heart Guy (Doctor, Doctor in Australia) and started watching McLeod's Daughters because it had several familiar actors in it. We really enjoyed it for the first 2 1/2 seasons but then it turned into a Master Class in how to destroy a wonderful show. First you kill off your main character. Then you have her sister who promised to care for her sister's child give her away. Then we have the episode where Tess is finally about to consummate her relationship with Nick, but the story splits between Tess arriving at Nicks and what we have been waiting for finally happening and an alternative story where she doesn't make it to Nick's and once again - you guessed it - nothing happens between the two of them. How long can they draw this out? By the way is this plot stolen from the Gwyneth Palltro movie Sliding Doors. And the repeat themes - the cattle are stolen, the car is stolen! As much as I love the characters and the scenery and I do intend to stick to it to the end, it could have been so much better. One last thought I know Lisa Chappell left to persue a singing career but remember Ricky Nelson from the Ozzie and Harriet show? He was on a weekly program and still managed to have an extremely successful career in music.
