Review of Grant

Grant (2020)
6/10
Did not use Historical Verbatim
29 May 2020
TNT's Grant had a wonderful opportunity to portray the character and strength of Grant as a true leader but the writers chose not to use the historical verbatim as recorded historically as to what was said and what was conveyed at their meeting at Appomattox Courthouse at the surrender. It was difficult for me to watch in how their meeting was portrayed. It diminished Grant and the Union Army into the political correctness of today's culture. It was my hope Grant would have followed an historical script, not one scripted by Hollywood....one again history has been rewritten. My encouragement is for students of history to go to history and read for themselves as to what was said and what was conveyed. General Grant was the consummated gentleman and gracious leader as he related to General Lee.
