Sarah Palmer is a successful corporate manager and a widow. She is raising her daughter Kristi, who is on the high school track team. After Kristi witnesses a gangland execution while out on a run, she becomes the target of the thug Karl Harvey.
Much of the action was strained beyond belief after Karl is able to post bail, then hunts down Kristi, even breaking into the Palmer home to make an attempt on her life. Kristi and her mom decide to go into their own witness protection program, traveling to Bend, Oregon. But they are unaware that there is a dirty cop who is in league with Karl. The deadly combination of Karl and the cop mean that it is inevitable that they will locate the whereabouts of Sarah and Kristi.
The worst part of the film was the excessive violence, especially the killing of Sarah's best friend Molly, who was one of the most likeable characters in the film. The best part was the sequence in Bend, where Sarah and Kristi meet the kind mountain man Tom. Kristi takes a liking to "Wild Fire," Tom's horse, while Sarah takes a liking to Tom. The combination of two strong women, a mountain man, and Ol' Wild Fire will be enough to surmount all odds in the struggle of good versus evil.
