9/10
Morgan Freeman at his best and Ashley Judd is no slouch either
10 March 2020
A serial kidnapper of young and beautiful girls is assigned to us the audience to figure out who this whack job who calls himself "Casanova" is within the two (2) hour film time frame. The difference being in real life many of the serial kidnappers/murderers are never found (I.e. the Zodiac killer). The films cinematography is both dark and excellent especially this kidnappers lair where he keeps his victims tied up and submissive subjects to himself, their master Casanova.

Ashley Judd plays Kate who escapes this madman and rather than cowering in a corner and going into a lifetime of psycho analysis she agrees to help Dr. Alex Morgan a Washington D.C. cop and forensic psychologist (Morgan Freeman) and the North Carolina police force find this whack job named Casanova. Dr. Freeman's niece is one of Casanova's current victims and he has a very personal interest in arresting the serial kidnapper before she also is found bound and dead as other victims have been found.

Of course some of the scenes are unrealistic and copycats as when Ashley Judd pulls a Harrison Ford aka Dr. Richard Kimble in the earlier (1993) film The Fugitive and deliberately jumps off a 100 plus foot cliff into raging waters to avoid her kidnapper. Hey, the scene worked so well in The Fugitive for the audience that the producers chose to plagiarize the earlier film and wow their audience once again. Kudos to the faceless stunt woman who actually made the jump.

The film has lots to like, lots of suspense, a serial kidnapper/killer cat and mouse chase, and a twist at the end worth the watch which is why I have watched this film on multiple occasions.

I give the film a 9 out of 10 rating
