Mais Pourquoi ?

Another speculative French sci-fi series that serves up a really interesting premise. Unfortunately, it falls in the execution.

The story is something that I imagine Isaac Asimov or Philip K Dick could have written: A detective tale set in a plausible not-too-distant future with moral and social implications from a tantalizing technology. Here we're talking about the potential for immortality.

Sadly, that's about as far as the series got. Unlike the similar "Transferts" this plot does not live up to the premise, is confusing, and misses a really good opportunity to answer some serious philosophical questions. In the end, the audience is left wondering why the main characters even bothered to do what they did.

Oh, and the final plot twist is something right off from Star Trek Voyager!
