I think the ending was better than I was expecting in that it left me with the idea that the RN gave the boy a chance to have a life off the island. I did not see the women as mermaids due to the fact that they had human legs throughout the movie and did not have fins or gills. However they did have suction cups much like the octopus (even tho we never find out why they really need the suction cups). I saw the women and boys more like a type of sea creature that at some point turned more human than sea creature, but not mermaids. Haha, my own sentence just flustered me! The women seemed almost as confused as the boys times. I enjoyed the movie and really appreciate the creativity and work that was put into it. Thanks ~ HK
