The Cleaners (2018)

A must see for everyone, even if you don't use Social Media

Warning: Spoilers
It is a documentary everyone should see. The intent was to show the lives of 5 of the content moderators and how what they were doing was affecting their lives but it also examined the bigger picture of what was going on in the world at the same time.

It does bring up important points about how content has been managed and how it has been a dirty secret.

Assuming the content moderators work an 8 hour day with a 30 minute lunch and 2 fifteen minute breaks that leaves them 25,200 seconds to reach their target of 25,000 images a day. One second to decide?

For me it raised some important questions that it did not address.

My dislikes. Slow paced. Hated the mindless use of graphic images of emails, tweets, and urls unless there was something subliminal that I missed.

For Facebook, does content get moderated in just Public posts or is it moderated in Closed forums as well? Is it moderated for Messenger or Direct Messages as well? It stated US Homeland security wanted them focused on Jihadi terrorists radicalizing US? Would it not be more likely that other larger and more influential groups would be the major culprits? Russia, China, North Korea, and even organizations with their own agendas?

None of that was addressed.

I still recommend watching it and as it also stated be willing to look at it with a critical eye. It did leave me wanting to learn more about the issue.
