Talkin about sexual frustations and some more talk...
18 April 2018
This is a tragicomedy about sex. You know just plain sex. Oh yes and it is about love too. But sex and love get mixed up alot in this funny flick. Could sound like a raunchy movie but it isnt. No nudity whatsoever. Just plain talk. No dirty talk however, that is too say if the "F" word isnt taboo in your life. (I originally mentioned this word in the title and I forgot that in america this word is forbidden. That's hilarious for european people. You can say f*ck wherever you want in ALL the european media).

Dont get me wrong, this is a comedy and a very sophisticated one, because it lays bare all the pain that couples and first dates go through when sex just isnt what was expected. No therapeutic talk. No, no, just a barage of mutual complaints between lovers that sex with eachother is a disaster. Still they keep living with eachother, repressing their frustration, without coming to some resolve.

Wow. This summary must sound seriously depressing. But the movie really isnt. It is truly the most honestly and funny movie I have seen which discusses sex taboos many couples dont dare speak about. Director Neil La Bute has a recurring sexuality theme in many of his movies. And I think "Friends and Neighbours" is one of his best, because of the sheer openminded talk about SEX. Some might find it whining, which it is, but it is done in a very humorous manner, if you can appreciate that sort of tongue in cheek humor. Have a good laugh about what everybody is afraid to talk openly about. Last but certainly not least, I forgot to mention the great actors. Everyone performs at the top of their talents. This is truly a serious piece of acting work, with very hilarious sexual collisions between men and women.
