Five or six thrills anyway!

Warning: Spoilers
Although competing against a whole slew of other titles in the spies-on-every-corner vein, the novel, "The Quiller Memorandum" was amazingly successful in book stores.

It was therefore inevitable that this novel success in the spies-in-Berlin vein, "The Quiller Memorandum" (1966), would be turned into a big-budget movie based on Elleston Trevor's novel.

Despite a lack-luster performance by George Segal in the title role as "Quiller", astute on-location direction by Michael Anderson delivers at least one colossal thrill (plus four or five others of lesser impact).

Production values are also high, and even the theme song appeals.

Alas, Alec Guinness has only a small role, but the German players led by Senta Berger, Peter Karsten, Edith Schneider and Max von Sydow do come across forcefully.
