I question the concept a bit, but it's still entertaining enough to watch

Warning: Spoilers
"Revolting Rhymes Part One" is an animated short film from last year and each year British television graces us with a new animated project mostly for kids, but also enjoyable for adults and this one like many of the others was aired around the holidays of its respective year. This was written and directed by Lachauer and Schuh, Oscar nominees for "Room on the Broom" and "The Gruffalo" and their work with this newest project is pretty decent too. Animation is okay without being too memorable and same goes for the story and the entire thing. I think the reason why this turned out okay also has to do with Emmy nominee (yep!) Roald Dahl's work was used here. Still, to me it sounded more like Dr. Seuss than Dahl to be honest. As a whole, I wouldn't say it is good enough for another Oscar nomination and maybe also not necessarily good enough for a sequel, but it's an okay modern take on old fairy tales like Red Riding Hood, Snow White etc. actually perhaps a bit too much for this runtime. Now finally let me elaborate a bit on the title of my review. I somehow feel that taking the rhymes and building the story and animation around it may not generally be the best idea as the building site of a movie and I think with another approach, this one here would have turned out a bit better. No denying it is slightly on the generic side and nothing really innovative, but he challenge was a big one and I think the have at least partially lived up to it. Worth checking out, mostly because of the narration, not just for the holidays
