What a superb drama this tale of a young french extreme right wing member who suddenly becomes aware of the ugliness of his acts and seeks for redemption. We may expect some clichés here, but beware. When our lead meets a beautiful blonde who happens to be more racist than him, racist to disgust for the audience, is this a cliché? And when a drugstore owner becomes his real only friend, besides the other Nazis, is this a cliché?
Despite the unbearable behaviour of most of him and his pals, you have here poignant sequences, unforgettable.
One goof, or is it?, concerning two scenes. The first one when he sits in a bus and nearly insults a woman who glances at him. Ten years later, also in a bus, he watches - I guess - the same woman. But is she the same woman?
An outstanding piece of work, so realistic, painful, a very worth film that makes you think.
