Review of Sam & Cat

Sam & Cat (2013–2014)

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed both iCarly and Victorious, which prompted me to check out Sam and Cat.

As with most kids shows nowadays, lots of things don't add up or make sense. This show is one of the worst I've seen of this. Sam somehow ends up in L.A., where Cat lives with her Grandmother (we don't ever find out where her parents are). Sam rescues Cat from being smashed inside a garbage truck, and they become friends and decide to be roommates, because Cat's grandmother is abandoning Cat and moving to a retirement home. This plot has lots of holes, and I have many questions that desperately need answered, although I know they never will.

Where are Cat's parents? Why is Sam doing online school when she is obviously a criminal and destined to be a dropout? How in the world can these two become friends? They have absolutely nothing in common. How can Cat's grandmother just decide to abandon Cat and move away if she is Cat's guardian? Also, you can't pay rent on an apartment that nice with just babysitting money. How do they? Why is Cat so stupid and annoying? And seriously? Babysitting? You can't come up with something better?

The opening credits are (I should say were) the best part of this show. Fun and catchy song. Now they have cut parts out of it to make it shorter and it is no longer good.

What happened, Mr. Schneider? You've lost your keen edge for making quality kids shows like Drake and Josh (my all-time favorite), iCarly, Victorious, and Zoey 101. Sam and Cat is pretty close to what I would call garbage. Not quite, as it does have its moments. There are some laughs, but the plot is so weak, questionable, and unoriginal that it sucks any fun out of what could have been a great show. 4/10
