This movie had a very 'Sunshine (2007)' feel, minus the going crazy and all that. It had a touch of documentary feel which I liked. It all really helped to make this movie 'feel' real and like it was real events and real footage.

Some people complained that it was a found footage movie and asked how it was that comms were down but they still got the message home. Well it was explained that it was fixed and the footage relayed back to earth. so.

I'm giving it a 7 because although I enjoyed it from beginning to end and all the actors did a wonderful job, it had a few problems. No radar or motion sensors on a 4 billion dollar ship? No drones or rovers? And none of the other reasonable things that might accompany a mission like this.

These people were not going there to collect ice samples ... rovers can do that, they said that they sent people so that they could explore. Whatever - I didn't want an action sci-fi flick anyway, I'm just saying. They focused a bit too much on the suspense and drama all the while failing to deploy any advanced technologies and tactics at exploring in such an environment. It's like they thought they were going to the moon, hell even on the moon they got buggies.

The movie was great and I did like it and I'd say watch it. But if all they were supposed to do was sit in the pod and drill to collect samples ... they could have made it an unmanned mission. The only real problem with the movie is that it didn't really make much sense. They should have poured 4 billion dollars into an advanced rover. And propulsion system. (which they failed to mention in the movie) How did they actually make a ship and a propulsion system capable of taking them to Venus? If they made those advancements, why not a super rover? Or better and less clunky space suits more suitable for frozen environments?

It's fun if you just entertain the idea of the movie. if you want to poke holes ... this thing will be Swiss cheese by the end of the day.

But the actors, director, sound team, all did a great job all around the table. See it. Just don't go all Science-Now on it. You'll crush them with even a third graders logic.

The creature at the end was magnificent and the find was extraordinary! I wish it did have a little more to do with the science and maybe they could have found a few things before getting attacked - and algae doesn't count. The drama was real and so was the courage and sacrifices they made. See it!
