It's a beast.

Well, I'm starting to go through a Godzilla craze again, going through some of the films, and spending large sums of money on collectibles. I have this pretty far up on my top 10 list, so I thought I'd give it another watch.

The characters are the same old same old, except for Emiko who keeps showing up. The plot is simple, not much else to say. But the monsters are what makes this film one of the best in the series. Burning Godzilla is one bad ass design. Then we got Destoroyah, who looks like the devil when he emerges in the flames in his final form. This movie is classic nostalgia, the sound effects during the horror Esq shootout with the police and small destoroyah bring back so many memories. The action is pretty good, but it is annoying how Godzilla gets knocked down 5 times during the final fight. The whole part with junior Godzilla getting killed before he reached Godzilla made me cry as a child. It still is pretty sad. It makes you wonder how Rodan gave his life force to Godzilla a few films back, it looked like Godzilla tried that, but I don't know.

I was surprised at how violent this film is, it's down right brutal at times. Godzilla getting his flesh sliced off from destoroyah's horn thing. Or destoroyah's chest being blown open with blood flying every where, then having half of his face blown off. There also plenty more gory moments. Damn, this is PG-13 worthy material.

It still holds up fairly well, it still remains one of the best films in the series.
