Review of Race 2

Race 2 (2013)
6/10
Strictly Time-Pass!
3 February 2013
A Sequel to the 2008 super-hit Race, Director-Duo Abbas-Mustan's 'Race 2' is Strictly A Time-Pass Entertainer! Its surely entertaining, but only till it lasts. It lacks the knack Race did!

'Race 2' Synopsis: A Millionaire treads through the world of the Indian mafia in Turkey as he looks to avenge the death of his lover and partner in crime.

'Race 2' has a stunning first-hour, with each sequence offering a solid punch. However, the film suffers from a relatively weak second-hour, which also offers an absurd climax. Shiraz Ahmed's Screenplay works, but it doesn't surpass its prequel. Abbas-Mustan's Direction is extremely stylish. Cinematography is top-class. The Stunning Locales of Istanbul have been captured most accurately. Editing is sharp. Music by Pritam is fantastic. Action-Sequences are effective.

Performance-Wise: Saif Ali Khan is a competent actor & his performance here, as the revengeful hero, is highly efficient. John Abraham plays the calculative villain, ably. Anil Kapoor is reduced into a caricature. Deepika Padukone is fair. Jacqueline Fernandez is as usual. Ameesha Patel is passable. Aditya Panscholi is excellent.

On the whole, 'Race 2' is a decent one-time watch.
