Waste of Time

Warning: Spoilers
Stanley's Version tracks the inexorable downward spiral of a weak character through three marriages. Solid performances by Giamatti, Pike, and Hoffman are wasted on a script that follows a character with zero appeal on a predictable path to loneliness. An audience could bear a plot like this if the film offered more laughs or drama. Regrettably, it does not deliver on either of these points.

Sound like a script that only Giamatti could carry? Think again. No lead could have shaped this storyline into a compelling film.

Pick up a new hobby in the 2 hours and 12 minutes you'll save by skipping Stanley's Version.
