How many times have I seen an Englishman from the mod 1960s, with long-lengthed hair, straight legged pants and wearing a suit, as well as the dress shoes, do that little foot slide that Mike does here? I would surmise it has something to do with keeping your foot down so you can kick the ball, a la soccer (which is what we Americans call football for the rest of the world).
