Two Brothers (2004)
7/10
Lovely film, but not as good as The Bear.

Anaud does it again, a film about the beauty of animals in their natural world, about the beauty of their character and emotions as well, about them being confronted with their deadliest enemy: the human.

I liked The Bear a lot, but I think this film is of a lower quality. First of all it has a lot more people in it and the tigers are not really presented in the jungle, but in the the world of humans where they have been shanghaied. Maybe one reason why I liked this movie less is because it shows really well the corruption and smallness of people. It leaves you with a bitter taste and a feeling of shame towards fellow men. We all say we like qualities like intelligence, compassion, kindness, but the awful truth is that a large majority of the human race is made of stupid, hateful, bad people. This film makes you really feel that.

But other than that, the tigers were beautiful. I imagine working with two tigers is harder than with a bear and a bear cub, so I forgive the obvious collages of tigers and different background. The story is also nice and it ends well. In the end of the film a grim statistic is shown about the decline of the number of tigers in the world.
