Good Advice (2001)
6/10
My advice to romcom fans is to screen this one soon!

Ryan (Sheen) is an investment banker with an unethical idea he thinks will put him way ahead of the game. When the idea fails, he loses his job, his apartment, most of his savings, and his ditzy girlfriend, Cindy (Richards). The loss of gold digger Cindy unexpectedly provides Ryan with another job opportunity. Cindy jets off to Brazil with a supposed new beau and Ryan secretly writes Cindy's lovelorn column, to keep it going and to get a paycheck. However, Ryan becomes much better at giving advice than Cindy and increases the circulation of the paper that publishes the column. Problem? Ryan's new boss is a no-nonsense, very intelligent, beautiful, single woman and he starts to fall for her. Will she return the affections?

This is a very cute movie, despite Sheen being somewhat wrong for the role. His transformation from jerk to good guy doesn't seem realistic. However, the other players, Richards, Everhard, Lovitz, Arquette, Newman and Estelle Harris are absolutely wonderful and make for a fun, fun time. There is a somewhat risqué tone to the film every now and then so viewer beware. However, this material is at a minimum and doesn't really spoil the enjoyment. If you love romantic and humorous stories, my advice is to find this one, put on your pajamas, and curl up on the sofa for an oasis of entertainment from the busy, busy world around us.
