I saw An Evening with Fred Astaire only once, in 1958. Yet, I still remember the number "Miss Otis Regrets..." The interaction between Fred and Barry made you think back to the days of Fred and Ginger. Fred had many excellent dance partners over the years and Ginger is probably the best remembered. However when you see Barry Chase your thoughts drift back to the sophisticated and elegant times of Fred and Ginger. Barry's style and class came through wonderfully.
The program may have been in color but I saw it in black and white. In my personal opinion, it is the only way to see Fred Astaire perform. The lack of color allows you to focus on the star, not on the decor or surroundings of the various sets.
