Out for Veangence more like it...
16 April 2005
There's a line between justice, and plain vigilante vengeance. Seagal crashes head-first through this line in 'Out for Justice'. Oh well, justice is cool, but vengeance is generally plain awesome.

Seagal plays Detective Gino Felino, a New York cop working anti-narcotics operations. Felino's best friend since childhood and fellow, Bobby Lupo, is murdered in broad daylight in front of his wife and kids by their childhood nemesis Richie Madano (William Forsythe). Felino takes it upon himself to spend the rest of the movie chasing Richie, beating up Richie's friends, harassing his family, and so on. Its justice... TO THE EXTREME!

So yeah, 'Out for Justice' has maximum plot-less-ness (wha?) allowing for plenty of Seagal dishing out justice to villains and the not-so-villainous, being targeted by villains, and dishing out more apparent justice. It's quite a macho movie, as its pretty much about Seagal being a hard-ass for 90 minutes, and we get to watch and laugh at his hilarious exploits. I don't think it was intended to be a comedy, but it just so happens one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. To clarify comedy: I'm talking Seagal intimidating the bad guys, beating them up, and also referring to the quality of acting, plot, and other non-existent movie elements in 'Out for Justice'.

Seagal fans should check it out. As usual, everyone else should avoid. A dumb, entertaining action movie - 6/10
