Not funny -- don't go to satisfy your curiosity.
4 November 2002
I would have ignored this film except for the slew of very excited reviews that said it was the funniest thing since "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut."

Let me tell you a secret. "South Park" was a masterpiece of comic amusement. "Jackass" isn't.

I knew what to expect; I'm not a prude or anything and, in fact, this movie didn't offend me at all. I was a little grossed out by the vomit but I'm more squeamish about that than most. To tell the truth, everything in this "movie" lost its potency because of the washed-out grainy video look. If they had shot it on film, and had a more professional look to it, it could have been a lot more interesting to watch, even with the exact same stuff on screen.

I suspect the average person, sans unhealthy fascination with bodily functions or unusual amusement at physical humor (that latter would be characterized by thinking Adam Sandler is the funniest thing on film), would just be bored by this pic.

So, unless you're a big "Jackass" fan or are really itching to see more bodily fluids and people getting hurt on video, you're not going to enjoy this film, so do yourself a favor and stay home.
