I laughed so hard through the first half of this movie that I probably bothered people. The second half wasn't as good for me - too much "action", not enough funny stuff. But then again, Anthony Hopkins got to do a fight scene, and that was hysterical.
Hopkins must have had fun doing this movie - I hope he did. I sure had fun watching it.
The plot was pretty lame, but I didn't care. I went to see how good the comedy would be between Rock and Hopkins, and I was not disappointed. I love it when Hopkins gets to be funny.
There was a lot of swearing, but no "gross" jokes that I can remember, and no sexy stuff either really. There was a group of fifty-something people behind me who couldn't stop laughing and said "That was great!" at the end of the show. Me and my friends (thirty-somethings) thoroughly enjoyed it. I would imagine teenagers would get a kick out of it, too.
It's not going to be a classic or anything, but I'm glad I gave it a chance. I think it deserves far higher than the IMDB rating it has received so far.
