Review of Killer Bud

Killer Bud (2001)
10/10
Better than Enemy at the Gates
8 April 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Killer Bud was one of the best films I have ever, or will ever, see. While not the most creative story ever written, the performances of Corin Nemec and David Faustino alone made up for it. Fans of Married... With Children and Parker Lewis Can't Lose will definitely enjoy this movie. Nemec and Faustino exhibit an on-screen chemistry not unlike Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Also, both Waylon (Nemec) and Buzz (Faustino) are throwbacks to their respective television alter-egos. There are also small sound effects peppered into the first half of the film, reminiscent of Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

*SPOILERS*

Another great thing about this movie is some of the smaller details; for example, the continuity of the film is fantastic- the constant references to the girl Waylon dated in high school, the wad of twenty dollar bills, the old man released from the nursing home, etc... How many movies with wide-releases make it a point to tie up all of their loose ends? Enemy at the Gates sure didn't!

As far as dramatic movies that send the audience down an emotional rollercoaster & leave them in a state of introspective shock at the end go, Killer Bud sucks. If you want something like that, watch Memento. However, if you're looking for a movie that will make you laugh out loud from beginning to end, Killer Bud will do just that- it is easily one of the greatest comedies in the history of great comedies. Anyone who says otherwise either has no sense of humor whatsoever, or just no reason to live, period.
