Free speech can bite back
26 July 1999
Though I neither admire or like what Mr. Flynt did- I fully support the ideas of free speech in this country. We all have the choice not to buy his magazines-- but he still have the right to sell them. This film realistically portrayed the industry as it must exist, but it also made important points about law and liberty. Courtney Love stole the show with her fine performance. Edward Norton shows sparks of the heights he will later reach. And Woody Harrelson is just right for being

Larry Flynt- someone who is reviled- but had the gumption to stand against adversity for the first amendment. A film that addresses these issues and needs to be seen by those who would take them away. Censorship is a two edged sword...
