The first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power was released online yesterday afternoon, and Prime Video has now followed-up with a special "Look Inside" featurette spotlighting quite a bit of new footage.
The video takes us behind-the-scenes of the sophomore season of the Lotr prequel series, as the main cast members bring us up to speed on their respective characters.
By far the biggest talking point from the trailer is the return of Sauron, who has now taken his Elven "Annatar" form in an effort to hide out in Eregion. If the show follows the lore, the "Giver of Gifts" will befriend Celebrimbor and aid him in the making of the Nine (that were given to men) and Seven Rings (gifted to the Dwarves) of Power.
Of course, Celebrimbor and the other Elven smiths already met Sauron when he was disguised...

Tolkien IP arrives on the streamer. Prime Video released a teaser trailer and behind-the-scenes featurette Monday. The first trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 has been debuted (via SFFGazette.com), teasing the ramifications of Sauron's return to Middle-earth.
The Dark Lord is in disguise after sowing discord in the elven kingdom of Eregion by manipulating Celebrimbor into forging the show's titular rings of power. We saw three of them in the season 1 finale, though Sauron still has plenty of work to do: remember, there are seven rings for the Dwarves, nine for mortal men, and his own, secret "One Ring to Rule Them All."
There are plenty of exciting teases throughout this trailer, including a glimpse of the Stranger wielding a wooden staff. While not confirmed, all signs point to him being a young Gandalf and it looks like his story will remain key to The Rings of Power.
Elsewhere, you'll spot Mount Doom, a Great Eagle, and even...

Now, some of the fans weren’t happy with the series in general, but the series has done fairly well and we are now waiting to see where it heads in the upcoming season. The second season will premiere later this year, and Amazon is slowly heating up for the upcoming premiere, which is what we are going to do with this report as well.

Today brings us some big news for the most annoying people you know. Seemingly out of nowhere, "The Lord of the Rings" has become a hot commodity once again between the recent announcement of the "Hunt for Gollum" spin-off/prequel movie, this year's upcoming animated effort titled "The War of the Rohirrim," and, of course, the ongoing television show that's caused no controversy or divided opinions whatsoever known as "The Rings of Power."
Set thousands of years prior to the events of "The Fellowship of the Ring" during the period known as the Second Age, season 1 of the wildly expensive streaming series was a solid and enjoyable enough experience that attempted to reach the same heights as Peter Jackson's original trilogy. It may not have become the instant "Game of Thrones"-sized cultural juggernaut that Prime Video was likely hoping for -- it's worth noting that even the hit...

It took a village to bring Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” to life and into homes.
The Middle-earth fantasy drama wowed Emmy voters with its craft- work, scoring nominations in main-title design, prosthetic makeup, fantasy/sci-fi costumes, sound editing, special visual effects and original main-title theme music. Set thousands of years before the Third Age of the Peter Jackson-helmed “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, the first season introduced viewers to elves, dwarves, orcs and Harfoots (one of three hobbit races) during a time of prosperity and relative peace.
Costume designer Kate Hawley and her team built more than 2,000 outfits. By using vegetable dyes as well as berry stains, she achieved unique shades and tones for her costumes.

This Lord of the Rings article contains spoilers for The Rings of Power.
“It’s really nice that it’s out. It was just terrifying the buildup to it,” says The Rings of Power star Morfydd Clark during a Zoom chat ahead of an Emmys FYC event earlier this month. “We’d spent three years doing this. There was so much riding on it and we knew there was so much expectation.”
Clark, of course, plays Galadriel, the Elven warrior hellbent on finding and destroying Sauron before he envelops Middle-earth in darkness. One of J.R.R. Tolkien‘s most beloved Lord of the Rings characters, Galadriel was first immortalized on the big screen by Cate Blanchett in the Peter Jackson trilogy from the 2000s. But The Rings of Power shows us Galadriel at a very different point in her life, thousands of years before Frodo’s quest to destroy the One Ring,...

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power started setting records before a frame of it had been released when word came out of New Zealand last year that its eight-episode first season cost a record 465 million to produce (not factoring in tax rebates and start-up costs amortization.)
In an interview with Deadline, Vernon Sanders, Head of Global TV for Amazon Studios, says the financial bet “has more than paid off.” He addresses the success of the show on Prime Video — where it broke records for most global viewers in its first day (25 million) and overall (more than 100 million), for minutes streamed (24 billion) and signups worldwide during its launch window, attracted younger viewers (record number of adults 18-34 for a Prime Video original) and affluent audiences — and beyond, boosting Amazon’s sales of J.R.R. Tolkien books on which the series was based.

In recent weeks Amazon has released a flurry of casting news for “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” season two. We have names of 15 actors who will join the Middle Earth cast: Gabriel Akuwudike, Yasen ‘Zates’ Atour, Ben Daniels, Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle, Nicholas Woodeson, Sam Hazeldine, Oliver Alvin-Wilson, Stuart Bowman, Gavi Singh Chera, William Chubb, Kevin Eldon, Will Keen, Selina Lo, and Calam Lynch. But details about their roles are scarce.
The only specific character information that accompanied the casting updates was the shocking news that Hazeldine (“Peaky Blinders”) will be taking over the role of orc-daddy Adar from Joseph Mawle. With showrunner Patrick McKay previously teasing elder elf (and ring bearer) Cirdan the Shipwright arriving next season, that still leaves 13 new roles shrouded in mystery.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Poweractor Joseph Mawle has explained why he won’t be in season two.
It was revealed on Thursday (1 December) that the actor would not be reprising the role of Adar in forthcoming episodes.
Mawle made his debut as the orc leader when the first season of the series, based on the work of Jrr Tolkien, was released on Prime Video in September.
He took centre stage as the series progressed, and by the end of the season, is shown to become “king of the Southlands” before changing the location’s name to Mordor in a reveal that was criticised by fans.
While the series will bring Adar back for more in season two, it’s been revealed that Mawle will no longer play him.

When Amazon’s Lord of the Rings prequel, The Rings of Power, returns for season two, it will do so with one of the major villain roles recast. Joseph Mawle, who played the Orc leader Adar, will not be returning, with Peaky Blinders’ star Sam Hazeldine replacing him in the role. No reason was given by Prime Video, who announced the change this morning along with a string of new castings.
This is a shame, as Mawle was definitely a highlight of the show, with him oozing menace as the main Orc villain. While the role may be less prominent in future seasons, it’s always problematic recasting an actor, as seen recently when the internet erupted in a furor over Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill on The Witcher from Season 4 onwards. While Mawle was hardly the show’s star, his absence will be felt but fans, I’m sure.

The role has been recast, with Peaky Blinders alum Sam Hazeldine taking over the role.
No reason has been given for the departure, but it is a huge blow to the series.
Mawle earned much praise for his portrayal of Adar, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of questions about how the character will fit into future storylines.
Amazon has also revealed that there will be even more new faces on the sprawling drama's second season.
Gabriel Akuwudike (Ridley Road), Yasen “Zates” Atour (The Witcher), Ben Daniels (The Crown), newcomer Amelia Kenworthy, Nia Towle (Persuasion), and Nicholas Woodeson (Rome)

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has recast a character for season two.
In September, the first season of the series based on the work of Jrr Tolkien was released on Prime Video.
However, one new character created for the show that made an impression on viewers was Adar.
Adar, played by Joseph Mawle, was introduced as the leader of the orcs in the third episode.
He took centre stage as the series progressed, and by the end of the season, becomes “king of the Southlands” before changing the location’s name to Mordor, a reveal that was criticised by fans.
While the series will bring Adar back for more in season two, it’s been revealed that Mawle will no longer play him.
In a casting notice shared by Amazon on Thursday (1 December), Sam Hazeldine was announced as Mawles’ replacement, although no reason was given.

Get ready to fire up those fan theories and a whole lot of reckless speculation, Tolkien nerds! The first season of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" successfully drew a whole new audience of diehards and casual fans alike to this refreshingly new story set in the wilds of Middle-earth and beyond, taking place thousands of years before the events told in J.R.R. Tolkien's novels and Peter Jackson's trilogy adaptation. Along the way, the Prime Video series propped up a number of season-long mysteries and kept viewers guessing along with the characters themselves about some of the big mystery-box reveals to come: Namely, who the heck was actually Sauron in disguise and whether that mysterious Stranger was, in fact, Gandalf himself.
By the end of the season, all those questions were answered ... but with such a big ensemble cast to follow and so much secrecy...
