The official poster for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has been released (check it out below). The action-comedy inspired by true events is directed by Guy Ritchie and is in theaters on April 19, 2024!
Synopsis: Based upon recently declassified files of the British War Department and inspired by true events, The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare is an action-comedy that tells the story of the first-ever special forces organization formed during World War II by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and a small group of military officials including author Ian Fleming. The top-secret combat unit, composed of a motley crew of rogues and mavericks, goes on a daring mission against the Nazis using entirely unconventional and utterly “ungentlemanly” fighting techniques. Ultimately their audacious approach changed the course of the war and laid the foundation for the British Sas and modern Black Ops warfare.

Creating eye-catching movie posters is an art. In the past, we’ve all seen some gnarly one-sheets that miss the mark due to formulaic layouts or studio interference. Thankfully, today’s new poster for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (shown below) is on target, with cast members looking cool, dangerous, and ready for action. In the explosive poster, members of the film’s murder squad brandish weapons in preparation to punch holes in the enemy, and they’re not about to take any prisoners. The poster implies a fun, action-filled romp with Ritchie’s flare for ensemble dynamics.

Queen Elizabeth has been played by numerous actors over the years — three in Netflix’s The Crown alone. But tracking not far behind when it comes to onscreen depictions of major British figures is former prime minister Tony Blair. Among the names to have stepped into the shiny brogues of the divisive politician are the likes of Damien Lewis, Robert Lindsay, Toby Stephens, James Larkin, Ioan Gruffudd, Stephen Mangan, Harry Enfield and Pierce Brosnan (as a version of Blair in Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer). Michael Sheen has also famously played Blair three times.
Joining this illustrious list is Bertie Carvel, the star of stage and screen who joined The Crown for its final outings in seasons five and six. While he’s mostly a supporting bystander in season five, the sixth and final season of Netflix’s hit royal drama — which centered its first four episodes, now streaming,...

“It really is a show about friendship against the backdrop of espionage,” A Spy Among Friends creator Alexander Cary said at a panel for Deadline’s Contenders TV event. Cary was joined by star Damian Lewis to discuss the MGM+ series.
Set in England in 1963, the espionage thriller A Spy Among Friends centers around Nicholas Elliot (Damien Lewis), an MI6 intelligence officer who is distraught when he discovers that his close friend, Kim Philby (Guy Pearce), is a double agent working for the Soviet Union. It also stars Anna Maxwell Martin and Adrian Edmondson.

“One of the brilliant things about spy stuff,” said Cary, “is that so much of it is secret, so much of it is left to the imagination. That opens the door for people like me to come in… and fill in the blanks.”

The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare: Everything We Know About Guy Ritchie's World War II Spy Movie
Few major directors have been known to churn out a film like Guy Ritchie. In recent years, at least, the British director has moved from one project to another with a fascinating quickness; he's pretty much the anti-Baz Lurhmann in that regard. Not unlike Luhrmann though, Ritchie has his own distinctive, bombastic style — and a growing pool of actors he likes to collaborate with.
I'm no expert, but Ritchie seems like a properly fun director to work with, so much so that a number of Ritchie regulars are returning for the director's latest project, an espionage epic called "The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare."
With so many other projects on his plate already — the sequel to his live-action "Aladdin," a live-action take on Disney's "Hercules," and a TV spin-off of "The Gentlemen" — it's a wonder that Ritchie's found the time. Does he hire little helpers? Does he have a clone? Whatever his secret,...

If police drama remains the bedrock of British TV commissions, with 2022 having welcomed crime series Karen Pirie, Marlow, Magpie Murders, The Responder, Sherwood and many more, broadcasters also gave us a glittering seam of new fantasy and horror. Last year saw a host of new British supernatural and sci-fi series, from Joe Barton’s sci-fi action-thriller The Lazarus Project and the criminally since-cancelled YA Netflix fantasy The Bastard Son & the Devil Himself, BBC Three teen horror Red Rose, Sky dark comedy The Baby, as well as a new telling of John Wyndham’s spooky children classic The Midwich Cuckoos.
Then there were shows that combined both threads, such as Amazon Prime’s mind-twisting The Devil’s Hour starring Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine, and Pete Jackson’s excellent debut Somewhere Boy. And some new British TV shows didn’t even feature a single murder, like Netflix’s adored Heartstopper graphic novel adaptation.

Just a couple of weeks from now, families will be gathered round Christmas trees, sharing mince pieces, singing yuletide songs, and unwrapping presents. And all over the country, dads – who’ve spent a lifetime receiving socks and ties – will be squeezing their rectangular packages. What could it be? A DVD of Saving Private Ryan? A box of Ferrero Rochers? Or the latest book by popular historian Ben Macintyre, whose accounts of modern British history are adored by men of a certain age?
Macintyre’s works include Rogue Heroes (adapted for a BBC TV series) and Operation Mincemeat (a hit in cinemas earlier this year), and the author is now making his debut on Itvx – a bold new streaming era for Britain’s third channel – with a big-budget adaptation of A Spy Among Friends, the inside story of the capture of Soviet double agent Kim Philby. On the 8th of December, ITV Hub is being replaced by ITV’s brand-new streaming service, Itvx. Yes, this might seem like the latest in a long line of rebrands that don’t appear to change anything concrete but Itvx will host new and exclusive programmes.

Horror fans are well catered to in this month’s slimmed-down selection of film premieres on Sky Cinema, with serial killer body-swap comedy Freaky, The Forever Purge, and Ben Wheatley’s pandemic weird-fest In the Earth. Joining those is the latest from Steven Soderbergh, whose Contagion enjoyed a surge of interest early on in the pandemic. His new feature is Kimi, a thriller starring Zoe Kravitz set during the time of Covid-19.
For half-term viewing with the kids off school, there’s Space Jam: A New Legacy and Dream Horse, as well as the many archive titles already available. Speaking of which, save Book of Love, there doesn’t seem to be a big Valentine’s night-in premiere this year, so perhaps look out one of our picks.
And here’s what else is coming to Sky Cinema in the UK this February.

Showtime's "Billions" just dropped the trailer for its sixth season, which will debut January 23, 2022.

Reactions are incoming from friends and colleagues about Helen McCrory, the “Harry Potter” and “Peaky Blinders” actress who died on Friday from cancer at the age of 52.
Steven Knight, creator of “Peaky Blinders,” released a statement: “Helen was one of the great actors of her generation. She was so powerful and controlled and this is so sad.” McCrory played Aunt Polly on the series, which announced this year that would it be ending with Season 6.
“Peaky Blinders” star Cillian Murphy said, “I am broken-hearted to lose such a dear friend. Helen was a beautiful, caring, funny, compassionate human being. She was also a gifted actor — fearless and magnificent. She elevated and made humane every scene, every character she played. It was a privilege to have worked with this brilliant woman, to have shared so many laughs over the years. I will dearly miss my pal. My love and thoughts are with Damian and her family.
