Indican Pictures has picked up director Haynze Whitmore’s horror film, Crepitus, for domestic theatrical, digital, and DVD distribution. Starring Eve Mauro and horror vet Bill Moseley, the film follows seventeen-year-old Elizabeth and her younger sister Sam who are thrust into terrifying circumstances when they are forced to move into their deceased Grandfather’s house. The romantic comedy is based on the memoir Becoming Ginger Rogers: How Ballroom Dancing Made Me a Happier Woman, Better Partner, and Smarter CEO by New York publicist Patrice Tanaka. In the wake of 9/11 and faced with a personal crisis involving her beloved Afghani husband, the Hawaiian-born Tanaka turned to ballroom dancing as an escape. Hex Media, the outfit behind Lord of Tears, The Unkindness of Ravens and The Black Gloves, have today announced they are to establish Hex Studios, the UK’s only dedicated genre studio, committed to developing, producing and distributing horror and fantasy content, with a focus on bold, original storytelling, and nurturing diverse voices in the genre.
