"Maybe this is my next chapter..." Netflix has released the first official trailer for A Castle for Christmas, a charming romantic comedy holiday movie debuting on Thanksgiving week later this month. The latest film from the intrepid filmmaker Mary Lambert. Famed author Sophie Brown travels to Scotland hoping to buy a small castle, but the prickly owner Duke Myles is reluctant to sell to a foreigner. Working to find a compromise, the pair constantly butt heads, but they may just find something more than they were expecting. Starring two talented "where have they been?" actors: Cary Elwes and Brooke Shields. And a cast including Vanessa Grasse, Suanne Braun, Lee Ross, Andi Osho, Mark Fleischmann, and Eilidh Loan. This looks like the most adorable Christmas movie that's destined to become a new holiday classic! Lots of cheesiness and charm. And a giant castle! And Cary Elwes back to woo another lass!

Thanks for taking the time to catch up with us, Padraig, and congratulations on Open 24 Hours! How and...

Sometimes strong female protagonists and their friends can be just as vulnerable and in need of support as the isolated locations where they work and live. That’s certainly the case for actresses Vanessa Grasse and Emily Tennant in the upcoming psychological horror film, ‘Open 24 Hours.’ Throughout the drama, Grasse’s hero, Mary, is desperately trying […]

"I'm not crazy, you know." 4Digital Media has released an official US trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Open 24 Hours, the latest from filmmaker Padraig Reynolds. This originally premiered in 2018 at FrightFest and Fantastic Fest, and it also played at Screamfest, Sitges, and the Telluride Horror Show. Starring Vanessa Grasse as Mary - who suffers from severe paranoia and hallucinations. After setting her serial killer boyfriend on fire, a woman gets a job at an all-night gas station. However, left alone to her own devices, her paranoia and hallucinations return with furious consequences. Customers and friends suddenly start turning up dead and mutilated all around her. Also stars Brendan Fletcher, Cole Vigue, Emily Tennant, and Daniel O’Meara. Why do so many trailers show so much? But I suppose not that many are going to watch this one anyway, might as well entice them with something. Here's the official...

If there's one characteristic that the vast majority of men convicted of violent crimes have in common, it's that they're violent to the women in their lives as well. For Mary (Vanessa Grasse) the trauma has been particularly severe. Cowed and frightened, forced into things she wanted no part of, she eventually stopped her boyfriend James (Cole Vigue) by setting him on fire when he was sleeping - but after he was exposed as a serial killer and, still alive, made unreachable in prison, the families of some of his victims turned to blaming her for not acting sooner. When we meet her she's done time herself. She's still suffering from paranoid delusions and hallucinations, but she tries to keep them secret because the last thing she wants is to be locked up again. It's time to put the past behind her, to try and live a normal life.

Having just left prison for setting her ex-boyfriend, serial killer James (Cole Vigue), on fire Mary (Vanessa Grasse) gets a job in an all night gas station. Still haunted by hallucinations, on her first night she begins seeing James around many corners, but there are more dangers in Mary’s first shift than her imagination.
The concept of Padraig Reynolds’ screenplay suggests something more morally complex than your standard issue slasher. He sets up a final girl who isn’t as easy to root for as the genre’s usual heroine, not only did she set someone on fire, but we discover that she has been shunned by the community for simply standing by and watching while her ex murdered several women. This could throw open a lot of ideas; allowing the film to engage with coercive and abusive relationships and the trauma that results from them, the immense pressure...

Open 24 Hours is the latest film from horror director Padraig Reynolds (Rites of Spring). Focusing on a paranoid and delusional woman, Open 24 Hours takes place at an all-night gas station. Here, Mary (Vanessa Grasse) begins to see tragedies from her past. This title had a few film festival appearances in 2018, including Fantastic Fest. Now, Open 24 Hours is set to show on home entertainment formats. And, this title also stars: Brendan Fletcher (Rampage), Cole Vigue ("iZombie") and Emily Tennant. The film's North American artwork and trailer are hosted here. The trailer shows a hooded figure and so does the DVD/Blu-ray artwork. Hooded in a rain jacket, this villain hovers over an injured victim. Offering two taglines: "pray you never run out of gas" and "welcome to the graveyard shift," the movie poster is haunted by an eerie green light. One of the better horror film posters this year,...

You’ll wish you could project yourself into a different entertainment dimension while slogging through “Astral.” This almost perversely uneventful, talky attempt at horror involves college students with malevolent spirits, only the ghoulies take their bloody time to manifest, while the protagonists are even duller than usual in such enterprises. This Brit indie feature debut for director/co-scenarist Chris Mul is mostly impressive for having wrangled overseas theatrical distribution at all: It opens on 10 Stateside screens simultaneous with a digital/VOD launch.
In a prologue, a young woman is released from a psychiatric hospital, only to seemingly commit suicide while investigating poltergeist-y sounds upstairs from her sleeping husband. Fifteen years or so later, their only child Alex (Frank Dillane) is a university student intrigued by a professor’s theoretical discussion of the astral plane. "I can't really tell you how to do it, I can only describe how I did it." Vertical Entertainment has released the first official trailer for an indie horror thriller from the UK titled Astral, the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Chris Mul. The film's story follows a metaphysics university student who discovers the practice of "astral projection" and the scientific possibility of a dimension outside our own. Coming to terms with the untimely death of his mother, Alex turns to astral projection in an attempt to reconnect with her. Of course, evil never dies. Astral stars Frank Dillane as Alex, with Vanessa Grasse, Damson Idris, Catherine Steadman, Trevor White, and Darwin Shaw. At first glance, this seems pretty much like every other demonic spirit horror film out there, I'm not really sure what makes it unique. But it's worth a look anyway. We're starting to trudge into deep weeds for ideas on supernatural horror movies and next up in the mix is astral projection.
Writer, producer and director Chris Mul is making his feature debut with Astral which stars Frank Dillane of "Fear the Walking Dead" fame as Alex Harmann, a college student who becomes obsessed with the idea of using astral projection to connect with his dead mother. You can guess where things go from here: the connection opens the door for terrible spirits from the other side.
Along with Dillane, the movie also stars Vanessa Grasse (Roboshark and Leatherface.

Zee Entertainment, one of India’s largest media groups, is making a committed foray into the English-language movie production business. The initiative is spearheaded by Dubai-based Shibani Kapur, Zee’s CEO of international production.
“We are targeting high-concept, low-budget films, in the genre space and with the kind of international cast that a company like Lionsgate or New Line would recognize,” Kapur told Variety. “We want these movies to travel.”
Kapur’s unit Zee Studios Intl. aims to deliver up to four films per year, made with budgets between $1 million-$5 million. It has completed its first two productions and is currently finishing a third.

Sometimes a horror movie is so suspenseful that you don't recognize its flaws until later. A midnight viewing of Open 24 Hours not only kept me awake but on the edge of my seat for its entire running time. I don’t understand why so few slashers don’t mine rich story potential of the final girl surviving the killer. There are only a handful of slasher films that adequately portray the post-traumatic stress of living through these violent attacks, the two that immediately pop into my head Scream 2 and its sequels as well as the recent Last Girl Standing, and somewhere in between those films – deftly balancing the slasher fun of the former and the sobering drama of the latter is Open 24 Hours, a grisly, waterlogged throwback slasher that relishes in gnashing its sharp, bloody teeth.
Open 24 Hours concerns Mary (Vanessa Grasse), a young woman fresh off a stint behind bars, having set her boyfriend on fire. Why did she do that, you ask? Because he was a hammer-wielding serial killer known as The Rain Ripper, his particular murderous habit triggered by bouts of rainfall. On the surface,...

Open 24 Hours is your third time being represented at Frightfest Why is it important you show your movies at the UK’s premier festival?
FrightFest is the best horror festival in the world. It has the best fans and the best organisers a genre director could hope for. "Ants are incredibly resilient - all we did is splice them with alien DNA and grow them to super-size." The Orchard has released a new official trailer for the very cheesy sci-fi horror film It Came From the Desert, adapted from a video game in the 1980s about giant ants. The game is obviously inspired by the sci-fi classic Them! (also about giant ants) and really this is almost just a remake of Them!, but it looks way way worse. The film "features rival motocross heroes and heroines, kegger parties in the desert, secret underground military bases, romantic insecurities...and of course giant ants." This stars Mark Arnold, Harry Lister Smith, Vanessa Grasse, Alex Mills, James Alper, Claudia Trujillo, Callum McGowan, and Aino Sirje. It doesn't look very good, but it does seem extra violent and action-packed, that's something at least. Here's the new official trailer (+ poster) for Marko Mäkilaakso...

Leatherface and Jigsaw, two horror flicks prepped and ready for this year’s crowded Halloween season, have kick-started their respective marketing campaigns, and they seem to have come at the expense of the local livestock.
Whereas Michael and Peter Spierig’s Saw sequel has incorporated severed pig heads into its suitably creepy character portraits – character portraits designed to spotlight John Kramer’s many disciples more than anything else – the latest one-sheet for Leatherface features a mysterious individual dressed in dungarees. Oh, and they also happen to be sporting a cow’s head for added effect. Because apparently a prequel movie chronicling the origins behind that infamous Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn’t enough to send a shiver or three down our spines.
Directing from a script penned by Seth M. Sherwood, Julien Maury, and Alexandre Bustillo are behind the lens for Leatherface, which is due to premiere via DirecTV in two months’ time.

Fans of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre rejoice! The full-length red band trailer for the cult classic’s prequel, Leatherface, has debuted – if you’re of a delicate disposition we strongly advise you turn away now.
Dubbed an origin story, Leatherface is the eighth outing in the bloody gruesome saga of horror films and is helmed by French duo Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, the duo behind the slasher movie Inside (À l’intérieur), as well as Livide and Among the Living.
The trailer starts with a creepy score, building the scares with a collapsing floor in a barn, a child blowing out candles on a birthday cake before switching to a human mask being stitched together. The next thing to hit you will be the sight of, what seems, the whole town losing their minds and stabbing each other in the neck as well as shooting each...

"We're trapped by this giant ant!" File this one under "Wait, this film really exists?!" Roger! Pictures out of Finland has launched the first trailer for a movie called It Came From the Desert, adapted from a video game in the 1980s about giant ants. The game is obviously inspired by the sci-fi classic Them! (also about giant ants) and thus this is clearly an updated version of the giant ant sci-fi story. Sadly, it looks more like a SyFy movie than anything I'm excited to see, but maybe I should've expected that. This film stars Mark Arnold, Harry Lister Smith, Vanessa Grasse, Alex Mills, James Alper, Claudia Trujillo, Callum McGowan, and Aino Sirje. The coolest part in this is the first reveal of someone being impaled through the chest, but the ants themselves look terrible. Hopefully they're much better in the final version. Have fun. Here's the official trailer...

Nine years ago Jonathan Liebesman directed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. Now that prequel to the remake is being overwritten by another Texas Chainsaw origin story. Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are behind the cameras this time, and the first poster for Leatherface has just arrived. Reflect on it below.Like Liebesman's film, the new Leatherface is following the hulking killer's early years in the 1970s, although in this case we'll find him in his teens before he dons the mask and picks up the saw. The hook for the plot is Leatherface escaping from a mental institution along with three other inmates, dragging a kidnapped nurse along with them for "the road trip from Hell". Sam Strike, Sam Coleman, James Bloor and Jessica Madsen are the escapees, with Vanessa Grasse the nurse. Stephen Dorff plays the deranged Texas lawman chasing them, and Lili Taylor is Leatherface's mom,...
