Action Comics No. 1 is the first Superman comic ever, and a pristine edition of it recently sold for $3.2 million in an auction that was conducted on ebay. The bidding ended on Sunday night with a total of 48 bids.
The comic was auctioned off by collectibles dealer Darren Adams who called it, “the Mona Lisa of comics and stands alone as the most valuable comic book ever printed. He also said that it is "The finest known copy of the most sought after comic book in the world. A 1938 museum piece with Perfect White pristine pages." It received a grade of 9.0 from the Certified Guaranty Company.
The comic was put up for auction on August 14th, and the bidding began at $1 million. Apparently there are only about 50 unrestored original copies of Action Comics No. 1 still in existence.
The final selling price makes this the most expensive comic book in the world.

A rare, nearly flawless copy of Superman's comic-book debut has sold for a super-powered price: $3.2 million. New York comics dealers Stephen Fishler and Vincent Zurzolo said Monday they submitted Sunday's record-setting bid in the eBay auction for Action Comics No. 1, the 1938 book in which the superhero first appeared. It's believed to be the highest price ever paid for a comic book, surpassing $2.1 million for a similarly high-quality copy of the same book in 2011. "It's hard to believe that a kid's 10-cent comic could be worth that much money, but it is Superman. That's an iconic thing," Fishler said. "It's...

The iconic Action Comics #1 - featuring the first appearance of Superman, the Man of Steel - continues to break records with an incredibly valuable copy selling for $3,207,852.00 in a recent auction, the highest selling price for a comic book in history. The near-mint issue received an astounding score of 9.0 by the Comics Guaranty Corporation (Cgc), containing white pages in pristine condition. Metropolis/Comic Connect made the highest bid, after selling the 'Nicolas Cage' copy of Action #1 for around $2.16 million in 2012; it is now the only comic to ever hit $3 million, and joins Detective Comics #27, Amazing Fantasy #15 and three others to break the $1 million sale barrier. Thought to be one of only 30 unrestored copies in existence, it was acquired several years ago from Darren Adams of Pristine Comics, who stated that the original buyer purchased the comic at the time of its release in June, 1938. Action Comics #1 was initially...
