As the English summer settles into its brief annual pomp, so too arrives Greatest Days, the “official Take That musical”, adapted by Tim Frith from his own play and directed with a steady hand by Coky Giedroyc, and as wholesome, heady summer parties go you could do far worse. What could have been a jukebox retreade of some pop fluff here becomes a vibrant celebration of fandom’s sheer emotional transport. It’s very funny, very British, a little weird and extremely satisfying.
Aisling Bea is great as Rachel, a forty-something nurse who wins a golden ticket of sorts: a chance to see her teenage obsession, a nameless boyband, perform live in Athens. It sets in motion a reconnection with her old friends and themes, long since gone their separate ways since their time as screaming fans fantasising about life outside the seaside town of Clitheroe and living vicariously through some proper pop bangers.

Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford has apologised to her professional partner Carlos Gu for “letting him down” after they ended up in the dance-off.
During Saturday (22 October) night’s show, the pair performed a Couple’s Choice routine to the Grange Hill theme tune as part of the night celebrating the BBC’s centenary.
However, the routine was criticised by the judges, with viewers suggesting that Rainford and Gu had been “stitched up” by the “slow” musical choice which appeared hard to dance to.
The pair, who have previously topped the Strictly leaderboard, scored 30 points and found themselves in the bottom half of the contestants.
Rainford and Gu were at risk of leaving the show after ending up in the dance-off during Sunday (23 October) night’s results show against comedian Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer.

Claudia Winkleman alluded to the chaos within the UK government on Strictly Come Dancing.

During the episode, the remaining contestants danced to songs and theme tunes inspired by the BBC’s biggest shows of the last 100 years, from Doctor Who to Grange Hill.
Following James Bye’s Foxtrot to the EastEnders theme tune, host Winkleman made a cheeky dig at the last week of chaos within the government that saw Liz Truss resign as prime minister after just 44 days.

Jayde Adams’s American Smooth on Strictly Come Dancingtonight (15 October) left many viewers in tears.
The dance, performed to “Wind Beneath My Wings” with the comedian and actor’s professional partner Karen Hauer, was in tribute to Adams’s sister, Jenna, who died 11 years ago from a brain tumour.
In the Vt shown before the performance, Adams said: “‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ was made famous by Bette Midler, who was mine and my sister Jenna’s most favourite musician when we were growing up… We’d make up dances to Bette in my parents’ living room.
“She was two years older than me and she died 11 years ago.”
Adams added: “I didn’t just lose a sister, I lost a best friend, my dance partner. Her telling me to make everyone laugh, that was my calling.”

Strictly Come Dancing viewers have called for Shirley Ballas to be replaced on the judging panel following a dispute about her recent comments.
The professional ballroom and Latin dancer has been the lead judge on the BBC dance competition since season 15 in 2017, when she replaced Len Goodman.
After Saturday’s (8 October) episode, celebrity contestants Fleur East and Richie Anderson received the fewest votes from the public and were at risk of elimination on Sunday’s results show.
Both celebrities danced with their respective partners before the judges were asked which pair they’d like to save.
Craig Revel-Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke chose to save East and her partner Vito Coppola, securing their position in the next stage of the competition.
However, when asked how she would have voted, Ballas revealed that she would have chosen Anderson and his partner Giovanni Pernice to stay, despite a consensus among...

The creator of the DC Comics series Pennyworth has revealed the reason behind the widely ridiculed title change.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the series would be retitled Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler for its third season, prompting a wave of derision on social media.
Speaking at New York’s Comic Con, series creator Bruno Heller outlined the thinking behind the change.
“HBO Max did their research, and they discovered a fair few people who had watched and enjoyed the first few seasons of Pennyworth, but had not realised it was about Batman,” he told EW.
“They just thought it was about a bloke who left the army.”
He went on to describe this lack of context as “a bit of an error, in terms of our conceptualisation”.
“It became clear that [changing the name] was just a sensible, matter-of-fact thing to do,” Heller continued. “We came up with a...

Tony Adams left Strictly viewers in hysterics after stripping off during his latest performance.
The former professional footballer and manager, who spent his entire playing career at Arsenal, has been bottom of the leaderboard since the new series began.
While he remains at the bottom of the leaderboard with 18 points after Saturday’s episode (8 October), he certainly won the trophy for the most entertaining dance of Movie Week.
During his performance of the songs “You Sexy Thing” and “Hot Stuff” from 1997 film The Full Monty, (which actually references Adams), the contestant proceeded to pull his trousers down to reveal some sparkly red underwear.
He then ripped his shirt off, which earned him a standing ovation from the crowd, including former Arsenal footballer David Seaman.

Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens, with a new batch of contestants learning the art of ballroom dancing for the first time.
The BBC competition series returned on Saturday (24 September), with 15 celebrities hitting the dance floor with their pro partners for the first time.
It was a night of varying dance abilities, with Will Mellor and Hamza Yassin sharing the top spot on the leaderboard with an impressive 34 out of 40 marks each.
Tony Adams, meanwhile, is currently at the bottom end with just 15 poionts for his Arsenal-themed tango.
However, everything could still change during Saturday (1 October) night’s show, as the scores from last week will be added to the marks gained by the contestants for their second dances.
The new leaderboard will then be combined with the public votes, with the bottom two couples facing the dreaded dance off and the first couple leaving the competition.

The creator of a widely shared petition calling for ITV to “axe” This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield has shared an update.
Schofield and Willoughby prompted a substantial public backlash when Queen Elizabeth II was lying in state, after they were given a separate access line for media.
ITV viewers complained that the pair had “skipped” the queue to see the queen’s coffin. The queue led to people waiting for up to 14 hours to get in.
At the time of writing, nearly 75,000 people have signed the petition calling for Willoughby and Schofield to be taken off air.
The petition’s creator shared an update on the original Change.org post.

The new series kicked off on Saturday (24 September) as all 15 couples danced together for the first time.
You can find out about all the couples competing on Strictly 2022 here.

She also said that the couple created a “beautiful” atmosphere.
When it came to the scoring, however, Ballas could be seen reaching around under her table for her paddle.
“I’m putting up a seven,” she said, despite the score on the screen read as a six.

The View co-host Sunny Hostin has seemingly excused Adam Levine for having an alleged affair because he is a “rockstar”.
Levine, 43, made headlines this week after Instagram model Sumner Stroh, 23, claimed she had a year-long affair with the singer and that he asked to name his new baby after her.
Stroh shared multiple screenshots of alleged conversations she had with Levine – who is married to model Behati Prinsloo – attesting to their relationship.
On Tuesday (20 September), the Maroon 5 frontman denied the cheating allegations, writing in a statement that he “did not have an affair” but “crossed the line”.
Levine’s personal life became a subject of debate on the US talk show The View, with Hostin asking: “Why go on Instagram or social media and put all of that stuff out?”
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg expressed her disinterest in the topic, responding: “I don’t know. That’s why I don’t...
