With their new horror thriller Guess Who, Tubi may finally have come up with a fairly original idea for one of their films. As far as I can tell, it’s the first film to use mummering as a major plot point. No, not mummies, mummering. What is mummering? Mummering is a Christmas-time house-visiting tradition practised in Newfoundland and Labrador, Ireland, and the City of Philadelphia. It adds a touch of Halloween to the season as people would dress in disguise and go door to door. If they were invited in, they’d give some kind of performance while their hosts tried to guess who they were.
Michael and Kaitlyn, his fiancée, are driving out to meet his family when they have to stop for gas.

Season 2 of the Showtime series Yellowjackets (read our review of the new season Here) is scheduled to begin airing on Showtime on March 26th, but fans can also catch the first episode of season 2 streaming and On Demand as of today. As we head into the second season, Showtime has unveiled two cool pieces of marketing that’s very fitting for a show that partially takes place in 1996: a ’90s-style MTV News video (complete with Kurt Loder!) that covers the news of the disappearance of the titular Yellowjackets, and directs viewers to a ’90s-style website, WhereAretheYellowjackets.com. If you were watching MTV or surfing the web back in the ’90s, these marketing materials will definitely press your nostalgia buttons. The MTV News video can be seen at the bottom of this article.

This post contains spoilers for the "Yellowjackets" season 2 premiere.
"Yellowjackets" may have been in hibernation for the past year, but winter is just beginning for the characters in Showtime's hit supernatural survival series. The show's second season kicks off this week with a premiere that features a bit of a '90s plot time jump, but that's not the only major change; with the survivors in close quarters, several teammates who were previously background characters are now much more front and center.
Meanwhile, in the present day, two Yellowjackets who viewers didn't know were still alive are poised to crawl out of the woodwork, along with a familiar new guest star. It's a lot to keep straight with or without mushroom-spiked soup in your system, so we've got you covered with a quick character guide. Read on to refresh your memories on all things "Yellowjackets" — before one or more of...

A third season of the show has already been ordered… and there might be more to look forward to beyond the new seasons. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Yellowjackets creators / showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson revealed that they have ideas for spinoffs as well.
Chris McCarthy, a former Paramount Global executive who joined Showtime last year, has made it very clear that he’s interested in building franchises. During his time at Paramount, McCarthy was credited with growing Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise, and now he intends to do the same for Showtime properties. Playing over the clips from Yellowjackets season 2 is a cover of the No Doubt song “Just a Girl”, performed by Florence + The Machine, produced by Florence Welch and Mark Bowen of Idles. The cover was recorded specifically for the Showtime series. Welch provided the following statement to Deadline: “I’m such a huge fan of Yellowjackets and this era of music, and this song especially had a huge impact on me growing up, so I was thrilled to be asked to interpret it in a deeply unsettling way for the show. We tried to really add some horror elements to this iconic song to fit the tone of the show.

Bow before the Antler Queen, if you dare.
Since the jaw-dropping Season 1 finale for “Yellowjackets” last year, Showtime fans have been clamoring to untangle more of the decades-spanning mysteries as part of the teen cannibal series. Did adult Lottie, now played by Simone Kessell, kidnap Natalie (Juliette Lewis)? What does adult Van (Lauren Ambrose) now have to do with Lottie’s murderous dark spirit plot? Just how many blood sacrifices does Taissa (Tawny Cypress) make? And what really happened to Shauna’s (Melanie Lynskey) baby?
The buzz surrounding “Yellowjackets” Season 2 also extends to series newcomers Elijah Wood, who stars as a citizen detective working with Misty (Christina Ricci), and François Arnaud as the boyfriend of Coach Scott (Steven Kreuger). Nicole Maines additionally was cast as an associate of adult Lottie who is similarly trying to recover from a past trauma. Meanwhile, Season 1 actress Keeya King will be replaced by “Bel-Air...

We’ve been fans of his for years and are delighted to report that his incredible talent is matched only by his kindness, warmth, and enthusiasm for his work. We're still a few months away from the premiere of season 2 of the hit series "Yellowjackets," but there's still plenty to be excited about. Christina Ricci, who stars as the adult version of the criminally (and possibly) insane Misty Quigley, has already said the season will be even more shocking than the first. It's a big claim, especially when you consider the first season was an introduction to a high school soccer team who may or may not have eaten one another in acts of ritualistic sacrifice.
In addition to Ricci, "Yellowjackets" boasts an incredible leading cast including Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey, Oscar and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis, and "Unforgettable" star Tawny Cypress.
It was previously announced that Lauren Ambrose and Simone Kessell ("Obi-Wan Kenobi") had joined the show as series regulars, in addition to Elijah Wood (He's Elijah Wood) in a guest arc as one of the Citizen Detectives,...

François Arnaud, Nicole Maines, and Nia Sondaya (“Truth Be Told”) have been added in recurring roles.

The trailer for the new Bruce Willis action vehicle titled Detective Knight: Rogue has been released by Lionsgate. This film looks to be yet another lower-budgeted direct-to-video release for the action star, except this one might be part of an already shot trilogy? In it, Willis plays a Los Angeles cop that sees an uptick in bank robberies in the city from an elite group of thieves.
The synopsis on the IMDb is what suggests the movie may be the first instalment of a trilogy:
Bruce Willis stars as veteran Detective James Knight, dedicated to navigating the demanding streets of Los Angeles, in this thrilling first of a trilogy of films. As the city prepares for Halloween, mask-wearing armed robbers critically wound Knight’s partner in a shootout following a heist. With Knight in hot pursuit, the bandits flee L.A. for New York, where the detective’s dark past...

The second season of Batwoman has been a weird, odd, and wild ride starting with actress Ruby Rose leaving the series and the writers scrambling to adjust the foundation of the show they built in the first season. Luckily, actress Javicia Leslie has stepped in as the new main character and has made the series stronger, while also giving the supporting characters a more focused purpose than Kate ever did. After last week’s plethora of surprises and reveals, let’s see if this mid-season finale can pull it all together.
What Happened This Week? Closure

Because Van Helsing season 5 is the show’s final run, expectations are high that the vampire apocalypse series will be able to end on its own terms and provide closure to fans. Showrunner Jonathan Lloyd Walker, who took over from Neil Labute in season 4, recently confirmed on Twitter that production has wrapped, so fans won’t have long to wait to see a conclusion to the story of Vanessa Van Helsing, the descendant of the famed vampire hunter who has the power to reverse the conversion of humans into bloodsucking fiends.

After witnessing the series’ titular hero and devoted followers battle the vagaries of a global vampire pandemic for four years, Van Helsing prepares to return for its fifth and final season with a virtual appearance on a Comic-Con@Home Panel Discussion. Though short on specific plot details about the upcoming season, the cast and crew, nonetheless, give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the daunting challenges the show faces as the first television series to resume production in North America.
Of course, fans of the Syfy post-apocalyptic horror tale are most concerned with when Van Helsing will return to the air and whether the oft absent Vanessa (Kelly Overton) will resume her role as the chief vampire slayer after disappearing into a mysterious vortex in last season’s seventh episode. Executive Producer Chad Oakes revealed that though the network likely won’t make an announcement until September, its intention remains for...

Syfy said today that production has resumed on the fifth and final season of Van Helsing, its action-horror series from Nomadic Pictures and Dynamic Television. Sons of Anarchy alum Kim Coates has joined the cast along with Ali Liebert and Steve Bacic.
Coates — who co-starred as “Tig” Trager on Soa — will play Count Dalibor, the husband of Olivia who, despite his best intentions, makes some disastrous choices. Liebert will play Nina, a vampire with a colorful past that involves Julius (Aleks Paunovic) and a hidden agenda that entails a lot of death. Bacic will portray the father, a wild vampire who dresses in animal skins and has been hiding in an abandoned mine with a child.
Kelly Overton, Jonathan Scarfe, Tricia Helfer, Keeya King, Paunovic and Nicole Munoz star in Van Helsing, which its producers say is the first drama series to restart filming in Canada — namely Kamloops and Vancouver.

Van Helsing Season 4 Episode 13
With news of its fifth and final season renewal firmly in place, Van Helsing sends viewers on a mind bending journey that promises to retool the familiar storyline and teases the notion that a new generation of vampire slayers may be ready to take up the family mantle. With Vanessa presumably still trapped in the Dark Realm, “The Beholder” puts the season finale’s focus squarely on the shoulders of Jack and Violet, and the genetically engineered sisters do not disappoint. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that without the guiding hand and hard earned wisdom of Sgt Axel Miller, it’s entirely possible that this fight might have been over long ago.

Syfy’s Van Helsing has been renewed for a fifth and final season, set to properly close out the vampire-slaying series.
Van Helsing has spared its fans from speculating if the December 20 Season 4 finale will stand as the series finale, thanks to Syfy’s announcement of a fifth season, which will serve as the show’s final frame.
Syfy has given a 13-episode order for Van Helsing Season 5, which will premiere sometime in 2020, as revealed by THR. Production is expected to start early into the new year. With the finish line now clearly on the horizon, the series will be able to properly conclude its story, which has greatly evolved its mythology from an initial concept centered on Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton), who, bearing an innate ability to combat (and even cure) vampires, was brought back to life to serve as humanity’s last hope in a post-apocalyptic near-future.

We’re just a few weeks away from San Diego Comic-Con and studios have begun to set their schedules for the 50th anniversary of the world’s most-famous fan convention.
Among Warner Bros. TV’s offerings for the pop culture festival’s 2019 lineup, which runs July 17-21, are farewell panels for The CW’s “Arrow” and “Supernatural,” as well as the debut of that same network’s new superhero series, “Batwoman.”
There will also be world premiere screenings and Q&a’s for Epix’s Batman prequel, “Pennyworth,” and Hulu’s “Veronica Mars” revival, plus a DC Universe-packed Saturday night and the return of “Riverdale” to Hall H.
