British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas returned to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night to perform a gorgeous rendition of her song “Bittersweet.”
Filmed at London’s Roundhouse theater, the performance features La Havas playing guitar and singing on a stage kitted out like a living room — an appropriate theme for quarantine. She was joined by vocalist Frida Touray for the stripped-down track. “Bittersweet summer rain,” La Havas belts to the empty room. “I’m born again/All my broken pieces.”

Prince doesn't invite just anybody to play for him at his famed Paisley Park Studio (Alabama Shakes were reportedly the last to receive that honor), but, back in 2012, he phoned up a mostly unknown 23-year-old soul singer from London by the name of Lianne La Havas to do just that. And the rest has been history. Since then, the two have jammed together at her flat, recorded a duet for his latest album, and even performed together on Saturday Night Live late last year. And although the now-25-year-old comes highly recommended by the Purple One and is a mainstay on music blogs (including Vulture's Best Songs of the Week), fame has mostly eluded La Havas Stateside. Next month, she'll again flex her lush, pristine vocals on her sophomore album, Blood, which boasts her infectious new single, "What You Don't Do." It's a more nuanced take on the modern doowop...

Amid a technical difficulty, Prince's talents were noticed.
All eyes are on Prince.
Although Saturday Night Live typically features two musical segments from its performers, Prince decided to do something different on November 1.
The 56-year-old music icon planned to perform one, eight- minute set.
He took the stage with 3rdEyeGirl and performed a medley of songs from his two most recent albums Pletctrumelectrum and Art Offical Age. Songs included "Clouds," "Plectrum Electrum," "Marz" and "Another Love."
Although, it looked like his performance was not complete without technical difficulties. At one point, he tried to turn up the volume twice before he realized that he had been playing unplugged. He found the chord hanging on his mic stand and plugged it in mid-song.

The last time Prince had eight uninterrupted minutes on national television, he was performing at the Super Bowl Xli halftime show in 2007. While that gig featured greatest hits like "1999," "Purple Rain" and Let's Go Crazy," Prince's Saturday Night Live set featured tracks that were likely unknown to most viewers. It didn't matter: Prince, his backing band 3rdEyeGirl and guest vocalist Lianne La Havas still delivered one of the most explosive and most polished SNL musical spots anyone has witnessed since perhaps when Chris Rock, the guest host, was still an SNL featured player.

David Cameron gave a mixtape to his fellow G8 leaders at their summit in June, and High Fidelity it is not.
The themes of the meeting in Northern Ireland were tax evasion and transparency, but the 10-song playlist had no clear unifying theme. In fact, the Telegraph reports that the songs were not selected by Cameron at all.
According to The Independent, the playlist was put together by BPI, the British record company trade association, as "a bespoke creation for the leaders."
The 10 songs constitute a smattering of the chart-topping adult contemporary fare Barack Obama or Vladimir Putin might have caught if they tuned into BBC Radio 2 while cruising around the Lough Erne Resort.
The Guardian called the mixtape an offering of "well-scrubbed young men and woman peddling polished but largely derivative takes on folk and soul, with a sideline in tastefully bleeping electronica."

London, July 24: Singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas says she spent 200 pounds ($307) on retro clothes when she got her first paycheck.
The "Is Your Love Big Enough" hitmaker also said she purchased the clothes from her favourite vintage shop, Beyond Retro, here.
"I went to Beyond Retro, which is my favourite vintage shop, and spent 200 pounds. It felt very outrageous, but I got so much and used it all on the tour," femalefirst.co.uk quoted Havas as saying.
The 23-year-old shot to fame with the help of her close friend, singer Paloma Faith. Last year she suffered from a kidney infection and cut out on alcohol, cigarettes.

Maybe you couldn't get a ticket. Maybe you hate camping. Maybe you're too old to do the mud, drugs and dancing in the Shangri-La until 4am. Whatever the reason you're not at Glastonbury this weekend, it doesn't meant that you can't do Glastonbury.
Thanks to the BBC's monstrous coverage, you can watch more on the TV than you could if you were there in your wellies. Sort of.

Nashville, Tenn. — Twelve months ago the guys in British rock back Alt-j had a very simple goal: To release an album.
Just something you could hold in your hands, maybe listen to every so often.
"And at least feel that when we died we could legitimately say we released an album on a label," keyboards player Gus Unger-Hamilton said. "And we could look at it and say, `Look, we made an album once.'"
"Kind of like you can show it to your kids," guitarist-bassist Gwil Sainsbury said.
That debut, "An Awesome Wave," went on to win the prestigious Mercury Prize given to the top album of the year in the United Kingdome and Ireland in something of a shocker. The Cambridge quartet has since been a near constant conversation piece on the blogosphere and mid-sized club circuit on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
The band's in the midst of a U.

He's a top-notch lyricist with a knack for storytelling, and it all makes for impeccable music. He knows life is good, and so is this album.
2. Of Monsters and Men, "My Head Is an Animal": The Icelandic fivesome have melodies that are eerie, jamming, groovy and overall epic. The voices of the male and female lead singers blend so beautifully that it sounds like magic.
3. Elle Varner, "Perfectly Imperfect": Her raspy and powerful voice,...
