The horror TV series Z Nation was produced by The Asylum (a company best known for the Sharknado franchise and mockbusters) and aired on Syfy for five seasons, running for a total of 68 episodes from September 12, 2014 to December 28, 2018. After that show wrapped up, a prequel series called Black Summer ran for two seasons (released in 2019 and 2021) on the Netflix streaming service. If you’ve been wondering when Black Summer is going to return for a third season… well, it looks like it’s not going to, because the folks at What’s on Netflix have confirmed that Netflix quietly “ghost cancelled” the show. But a new post on The Asylum’s X account indicates that Z Nation might be getting a revival! The post promises that a big announcement is coming soon…

The film scripted by Rebecca Flinn-White (Period’s Big Adventure) and Zak White (Creepshow) follows Ben (Kalopsis), who is your typical high-school overachiever. You’ve encountered Ruby Gillman, the protagonist of DreamWorks’ latest venture, Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken, before: She’s a nerdy teen (math is her favorite subject), who survives the cliquishness of high school with her close friends (they call themselves “the squad”). She frets about the usual affairs of adolescence, like asking her crush to prom and evading her mother’s watchful gaze. Her parents love her, but could stand to dial back their overprotective instincts. And, oh, Ruby has a big secret: She’s a kraken.
Like a host of supernatural creatures and people before her (Miles Morales of Spider-Man, which would make a pleasant double bill with this film; Darby of Darby and the Dead; and Wei-Chen in American Born Chinese), Ruby lives a double life. She can’t tell her friends that she’s a squid-like creature who, legends say, destroys ships and their sailors. Her parents moved to Oceanside,...

Kirk DeMicco’s Ruby Gillman: Teenage Kraken feels torn between being a story of racial difference and offering a compelling vision of teenage growing pains. Sweet but narratively thin and didactic, the latest from DreamWorks Animation always seems as if it’s trying to find its footing, which is apt insofar as its main character, a 15-year-old champion mathlete named Ruby (Lana Condor), is trying to understand her place in the world.
Ruby goes through high school wondering why her parents, Agatha (Toni Collette) and Arthur (Colman Domingo), are so strict about keeping her away from sea water. And, unfortunately for Ruby, that includes not being able to attend her high school prom, as it’s set to take place on a massive cruise ship in the ocean. One day, while flirting with Connor (Jaboukie Young-White), Ruby accidentally pushes her would-be paramour into the ocean, and upon diving in after...

Ever since its premiere in 2020, "Never Have I Ever" has solidified itself as a heartwarming teen dramedy that excels both at delivering the most chaotic, side-splitting scenarios, as well as moving heart-to-hearts between its characters. Season four, which premiered on June 8, finally brings the show's many romantic plot lines to a close, but fans have long wondered whether the cast of "Never Have I Ever" are single or taken Irl. Like of course as an actor, I've gotten better. But as a human being, I've had to mature and learn how to really be my own best friend and have a thick skin."

Alright, nerds. There’s one season of Mindy Kaling’s “Never Have I Ever” left. Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her besties Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor (Ramona Young) will return to Sherman Oaks High School to conquer their senior year with confidence, ready for anything that might come their way, or so they think. Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison) and the other boys Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) and Trent Harrison (Benjamin Norris) will return to school too in various ways.
Michael Cimino’s special guest appearance as a potential new love interest for Devi will shake up Sherman Oaks, and several other faces either return briefly or join for the final season of the Netflix teen comedy show. The core characters have themselves quite a year ahead, dealing with college admissions and the close of this chapter that brought them all together.

Never Have I Ever celebrated its fourth and final season premiere on Thursday, but with two key pieces missing — co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, who skipped the event amid the writers strike.
“I love what I get to do, and I understand how lucky I am to be able to work in Hollywood at all,” Kaling wrote on her Instagram account just hours before the red carpet in Los Angeles, explaining her decision to stand with the WGA. “I hope the strike ends soon. It sucks to miss all these fun and meaningful milestones, but it’s a great example of what we are willing to sacrifice to be treated fairly.”
The show still went on, though, as stars Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Darren Barnet, Jaren Lewison, Richa Moorjani, Poorna Jagannathan, Lee Rodriguez and Ramona Young walked the press line and spoke about the Netflix show’s final 10 episodes.

Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is going out with a bang.
The official trailer for the final batch of episodes of the coming-of-age high-school comedy from Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher sees season four kicking off right where season three ended.
Though it appears Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Ben (Jaren Lewison) may have taken each other up on their mutual offer, the two don’t seem to be together yet, with Ben spotted kissing art student Margot (Victoria Moroles) as he and Devi have some awkward interactions.
The confusion continues as Devi spots Paxton (Darren Barnet) back at her school despite having graduated at the end of season three. But Paxton’s appearance offers a hint of how Barnet returns to the series for its final season.

Devi Vishwakumar isn’t ready to say goodbye, and neither are we.
After losing her virginity to Ben Gross (Jaren Lewinson), Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) is ready for her final year of high school, with eyes on the Princeton prize in the trailer for “Never Have I Ever” Season 4 — the final batch of episodes for the Netflix series, which drop June 8 on the streamer.
Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without her besties Eleanor (Ramona Young) and Fabiola (Lee Rodriquez) by her side as they conquer college applications, prom and graduation.
It looks like some special guest stars will appear in this final season of Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher’s comedy series. Ken Marino can be glimpsed driving the girls to prom in a limo. Michael Cimino (“Love Victor”) has been crowned new king of the hot pocket, and his character Ethan has gotten, well, hotter over the summer.

Devi Vishwakumar is back for one more round of misadventures, as Netflix has just announced a release date for "Never Have I Ever" season 4. The fourth season of the high school-set comedy is poised to be its last, and while we're not quite ready to say goodbye to these vibrant weirdos and their not-finished-cooking teen brains yet, the final episodes look like a lot of fun.
Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher's Netflix comedy about a group of high school geeks led by horny, adventure-seeking Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) has been lauded from its first season for its surprisingly poignant examination of grief and stereotype-bucking Indian-American representation. Across its three seasons, the show has gone to some deep places (the death of Devi's father influences both her best and worst choices) and some deeply funny ones, and while the latest teaser only offers a small taste of what's to come, it...

“Never Have I Ever” is nearing the final installment of its hilarious depiction of adolescent chaos, and showrunner/co-creator Lang Fisher already expects fans will have feelings about how the story ends.
The Netflix comedy series follows Sherman Oaks teen Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) as she juggles high school, grief over losing her father and love interests aplenty between hearthtrob Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) and academic frenemy Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).
Fisher tells TheWrap that the show’s final season, set to premiere Thursday, June 8, will see Devi make a clear choice between her two suitors — and not all fans will be happy with the outcome.
“I think there’s gonna be a subset of people who are disappointed because, you know, the love triangle comes to an end and decisions are made,” Fisher said during the NBCU Emmys Kickoff luncheon in Los Angeles Wednesday. “But I hope that we...

The coming-of-age high-school comedy from Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher is set to wrap up its four-season run June 8.
A teaser for the remaining 10 episodes, featuring the series’ signature John McEnroe voiceover, takes viewers back through the “ups and downs” of the previous three seasons for “Ivy League-chasing horndog” Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her friends. And then the preview offers a series of rapid-fire glimpses of season four, including the introduction of Michael Cimino’s skater character Ethan, who’s shown taking off his shirt and coming close to kissing Devi.
Ethan’s arrival adds another dimension to the ongoing love triangle between Devi, Paxton Hall-Yoshida (Darren Barnet) and Ben Gross (Jaren Lewison).

“Ivy League horndog” Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and her nerds are back for one final year of high school, starting June 8 on Netflix.
The streamer released a teaser clip and first-look photos at the last hurrah for Mindy Kaling’s high shcool comedy series, which also deals deftly with the topic of mental health.
As narrator John McEnroe says, “there’s no denying that the journey to senior year has had its ups and downs” and “some really bad downs” at that. The hotheadeed tennis player’s voice continues in the teaser clip, saying “But soon, Devi and her friends return to high school for one final year, and this time, they’re ready for anything.”
Except, maybe, Michael Cimino taking his shirt off to display his rock hard abs. It looks like a prom, new relationships and old complicated feelings are in store for this final season, as promised by co-creator,...

Netflix has set June 8 for the debut of the final season of “Never Have I Ever,” the high school comedy from co-creators Mindy Kaling and Lana Fisher that definitely should’ve gotten John McEnroe an Emmy nomination for Best Narrator.
“Never Have I Ever” Season 4 picks up after the events of Season 3, with show lead Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) on the cusp of graduation and making tough choices about her love life and future. In the last batch of episodes, Devi eventually consummated her on-again, off-again flirtation with fellow school nerd Ben (Jaren Lewison) while seemingly moving on from her other on-again, off-again object of affection, Paxton (Darren Barnet). But Fisher says the love triangle will remain sharp-edged until the final episode streams.
“The love triangle is not over. It continues into Season 4. Anyone who is worried that this is it, it keeps going. Don’t worry. It’s for the length of the entire series,...
